Nature
Nature’s guests
Every location has its responsibilities, especially ours. In 2009 the Dolomites joined UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
Additionally, the ADLER Lodge ALPE lies within the dream setting of the Alpe di Siusi Landscape Protection Area. As such, the importance of environmental protection and sustainability is paramount, both on our part as hoteliers and on your part as visitors to this geographical gem. We are all nature’s guests! As guests of nature, we do what visitors always do in other people’s homes: We show consideration, respect, and observe certain rules.
For some years now, the use of motor cars on Alpe di Siusi has been restricted. In support of this conservation measure, we changed the hotel’s vehicle fleet over to electric cars and hope that others in the area will follow our example. The access road to the hotel garage may only be used by cars issued with a permit, which you will receive from us prior to your arrival.
The ADLER Lodge ALPE also complies with the Klimahaus Nature standard, which is based on strict criteria relating to building materials, water management, energy efficiency, etc. Due to the unique location of the Lodge, we had to develop customized solutions for energy use, by operating small combined heat and power plants to support and optimise our energy supply. Local mountain timber was used for construction; architecturally, the lodge also conforms with nature, with the monolithic structure of a conventional hotel replaced by a typical rural alpine ensemble that blends well with the surrounding landscape. The responsible use of water as a valuable natural resource is a way of life for us, as well as environmentally friendly waste management. The Lodge operates with an intelligent water management system, and waste separation begins in the rooms and suites, where we know our visitors will be happy to contribute!
Sustainability is the order of the day in the kitchen, also, and our chefs mainly use organic regional produce. This reduces the distances travelled for deliveries to the hotel and the resulting carbon emissions. This practice also supports the mountain farmers, who are crucial to the Alpine realm. In addition, we serve only fresh mountain spring water, either still or carbonated, so as to avoid deliveries of bottled mineral water. We take great pleasure living this philosophy with the help of our guests, and recognizing that we, as nature’s guests, are privileged to enjoy the treasures of this special natural setting: Mountains, fresh air, water, sunshine, flowers, animals, exercise, rest, good food and so much more.
