Energy management

The resort runs entirely on green electricity and is completely gas-free. All systems operate electrically and are controlled by intelligent management software that optimises energy use — from lighting and heating to cooling.
Heat pumps and heat recovery systems have always been part of our energy concept, contributing significantly to overall efficiency. From 2026, a photovoltaic installation will cover around 25% of the resort’s energy demand, further strengthening our commitment to renewable power.
A central energy monitoring system tracks consumption in real time, identifies potential improvements and helps us continuously refine our energy performance.

Water management

Water stewardship lies at the heart of our environmental philosophy. Step by step, we are moving towards a more self-sufficient water supply, making use of the island’s natural resources in an efficient and responsible way.
Rainwater and reclaimed water from our on-site treatment plant are used for irrigation. Since 2025, a 90-metre-deep well has complemented this system — drawing groundwater that would otherwise remain unused and allowing for the sustainable use of local water resources.
Drinking water, available free of charge throughout the resort, is purified through a professional microfiltration system. It is microbiologically pure, low in sodium and minerals — a standard that safeguards both health and the environment.
In housekeeping, laundry and garden maintenance, we use only ecological and biodegradable cleaning products that meet ADLER’s internal standards, ensuring that the water returning to the natural cycle remains free from harmful substances.

Waste Management & Circular Thinking

ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA aims to reduce waste to an absolute minimum and to keep materials in use for as long as possible. Following the Zero Waste principle, all waste streams are carefully separated, recycled and reduced wherever feasible.
Our courtesy line is presented exclusively in sustainable, recyclable packaging. Packaging is also systematically reduced in purchasing, with a clear preference for reusable or returnable materials.
From 2026, an in-house composting system will convert organic waste from the kitchen and gardens into natural fertiliser — another step towards a closed, resource-efficient cycle that benefits both the environment and the resort’s green spaces.

Biodiversity & Conservation

The resort is deeply committed to protecting the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve — one of Sicily’s most precious coastal ecosystems. Working closely with local partners, we implement measures to preserve biodiversity and safeguard the landscape for the long term.
Within the resort grounds, a botanical garden, native plant species, and our own orchards, olive groves and citrus trees create a vibrant and diverse habitat. This carefully designed environment supports natural cycles, provides shelter for local wildlife and strengthens the ecological balance that surrounds the resort — a living example of how nature and hospitality can coexist in harmony.
