The EarthCheck certifications for our properties have once again been confirmed and extended until the end of 2026 – a clear endorsement of the effectiveness of the measures implemented and their continuous development over time.
On-site audits and digital assessments
In autumn, comprehensive on-site audits were carried out at ADLER Thermae, ADLER Sicilia and ADLER Lodge Alpe. An external, independent auditor reviewed the facilities, operational and consumption data, the status of ongoing projects and outstanding points from the previous audit.
The assessments were completed by discussions with employees, concrete optimisation recommendations and a detailed final report.
For the remaining ADLER properties, data verification and professional exchange with EarthCheck took place digitally.
Tangible progress
Compared to regional competitors, EarthCheck identifies ADLER as a regional leader in the responsible use of resources, particularly in energy and water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and waste management.
Since the first audit in 2023, clear improvements have been achieved across several areas. Especially noteworthy is the reduction in waste sent to landfill: at ADLER Sicilia and ADLER Lodge Alpe, this volume has been reduced by more than 50% compared to 2023.
According to EarthCheck, the assessment of cleaning products has also improved across all properties, based on the consistent use of certified, environmentally friendly products and clearly defined standards.
Significant progress has also been made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Across all properties, emissions have decreased through the use of 100% green electricity, green gas contracts, efficiency measures, optimised operational processes and a more mindful use of energy in daily operations.
At ADLER Thermae, CO₂ emissions per guest night were reduced by 20.9%, with comparable reductions achieved at ADLER Dolomiti and ADLER Balance. In a regional comparison, ADLER therefore performs well below the average of similar establishments.
Understanding data in context
What matters is not only savings or reductions, but a conscious and responsible approach to all resources used. Transparent data and a shared understanding in daily operations form the basis for sound decisions with long-term impact.
At the same time, developments must be interpreted in context: increases in individual areas may result from operational, seasonal or usage-related changes and are not necessarily negative. This highlights the importance of evaluating key figures within their specific framework.
Projects with local impact
Alongside measurable indicators, numerous social and environmental projects were at the centre of attention in 2025. These include the maintenance and development of hiking trails in our destinations, as well as initiatives in regenerative agriculture, particularly in Sicily and Tuscany.
Social projects and measures that actively involve the local community and our employees in the destination and its social development form the heart of our sustainability efforts.
Confirmation and outlook
That our auditor described the ADLER Hotels as exemplary operations fills us with pride and reaffirms the path we have chosen.
In 2026, we will continue to pursue ADLER for Planet with commitment and conviction. Newly joining the programme is the AKI Family Resort Plose. Together with all Green Teams, we look forward to open dialogue and the implementation of new projects – large and small. Continuous learning, clear responsibility and concrete action are essential to driving lasting change and developing ADLER for Planet as a living, effective process.
