Nature & Resources - our environmental management

A mindful use of energy, water and materials lies at the heart of what we do.
We rethink natural cycles, nurture biodiversity and embrace solutions designed to last – for the wellbeing of people, nature and future generations.

Water management

Water is a valuable resource, especially in a region such as the Val d’Orcia. For this reason, we adopt a structured and mindful approach aimed at reducing consumption and managing water flows efficiently.

Within the resort, an on-site water treatment system ensures that water is treated before being carefully returned to the designated water cycle.
In the maintenance of our green areas, we rely primarily on collected rainwater and recovered water, significantly reducing the use of potable water.

Since 2024, we have offered our guests spring water from Monte Amiata free of charge in our restaurants and public areas. This choice helps reduce packaging and transport while enhancing the guest experience.

Particular attention is also given to daily operations: housekeeping, laundry and gardening use exclusively ecological and biodegradable products in line with ADLER standards, minimising impact on water resources and the environment.
In addition, we carefully select textiles that allow for efficient washing and drying processes, further reducing water and energy consumption while maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene.

Energy management

Energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources are an integral part of the daily operations at ADLER THERMAE.
Our goal is to cover our energy needs responsibly while implementing technical solutions that reduce consumption and emissions.

The resort operates using 100% green energy. A photovoltaic system covers around 30% of our energy demand, strengthening self-generation and ensuring a more stable energy supply.
This is complemented by modern technologies and low-consumption systems that continuously optimise operational efficiency.

A key element of our energy concept is the combination of combined heat and power (CHP), 100% Green Gas and geothermal energy, supported by heat recovery systems. This allows energy to be used multiple times while avoiding unnecessary losses.

To ensure a pleasant indoor climate, the building is equipped with an intelligent ceiling heating and cooling system, which provides an even, quiet and efficient temperature distribution. In this way, we combine high levels of comfort with a conscious use of energy.

Waste management & circular thinking

A responsible use of resources often becomes visible behind the scenes – in logistics, internal processes and everyday operations.
For this reason, ADLER THERMAE continuously works to reduce waste and use materials more efficiently.

A key element is systematic waste separation throughout the resort. Recyclable materials are carefully sorted and disposed of correctly in order to support recycling processes as effectively as possible.
At the same time, we gradually reduce packaging and prioritise durable products or supplies based on reusable solutions.

In purchasing and daily operations, we also follow a circular approach: wherever possible, we rely on refillable systems, low-impact materials and alternatives that help prevent unnecessary waste. In this way, a responsible product cycle is created – from selection to disposal.

Biodiversity & conservation

The park at ADLER THERMAE is an integral part of the guest experience and, at the same time, a valuable habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal species.
For this reason, the care of our green spaces follows thoughtful practices that respect natural balances.

In maintaining the park, we deliberately avoid the use of chemical substances and instead rely on natural methods.
When necessary, insects and small animals are gently collected using special nets and subsequently released back into the park, ensuring that the ecosystem remains undisturbed.

Through this careful and non-invasive approach to landscape management, we contribute to the protection of local biodiversity, in harmony with the unique landscape of the Val d’Orcia.
