Since its debut in 2022, the Gravel Val d’Orcia has quickly become one of the highlights of Italy’s cycling calendar. The event attracts hundreds of cycling enthusiasts from across the globe, offering truly authentic and unforgettable experiences.
It’s also a special moment for us: ADLER Thermae is once again among the main sponsors, and one of the driving forces behind the event is Mauro Pieri, who has long been the heart and soul of the resort’s cycling tours. With his infectious passion, Mauro gives us a first look at what’s new this year.
2025 Routes: Choose Your AdventureTo add even more fun and variety, this year’s routes take riders across the legendary strade bianche and through the most iconic landscapes of the Val d’Orcia. Each path opens up postcard-perfect views and invites you to breathe in the true spirit of Tuscany. From beginners to seasoned athletes, everyone will find a route that matches their style and ability.
- Frugale / E-Bike Route – the easiest option, and the only one starting in San Quirico. Perfect for those who want to ride at a relaxed pace while enjoying the timeless beauty of Pienza and Montichiello. (37 km, 700 m elevation gain)
- Saporito Route – for riders ready to push a little further. An extension of the Frugale, it also climbs the gentle hills around Castiglione d’Orcia, a beautiful village with sweeping views at the foot of Monte Amiata. (75 km, 1,700 m elevation gain)
- Goloso Route – designed for those who welcome long distances and tough climbs. Highlights include the ancient hamlet of Contignano and the rolling countryside where Italy’s finest pecorino cheese is made. (114 km, 2,700 m elevation gain)
- Luculliano Route – the toughest and most epic: an extraordinary journey reaching Radicofani at 897 meters, before embracing the slopes of Monte Amiata. (140 km, 3,200 m elevation gain)
All routes finish in the historic center of San Quirico d’Orcia, where a big celebration awaits.
