Ice Bathing in the Natural Pond & Barefoot Trail

Mental Strength and Health from Nature

Admittedly, it takes some courage to face this frosty challenge. But surrounded by the enchanting mountain scenery of Ritten and guided by a true expert, ice bathing becomes an experience that connects you with nature while strengthening both body and mind.

Ice bathing offers various health benefits: it stimulates circulation, strengthens the immune system, has anti-inflammatory effects, and promotes muscle regeneration. Moreover, the psychological effects are also enticing: the cold shock triggers the release of adrenaline, serotonin, and endorphins—neurotransmitters that can create euphoric feelings of happiness. However, it may ultimately be the sense of accomplishment after overcoming this challenge that truly lifts participants' spirits.
Since ice bathing is primarily a mental challenge, it is important to build mental strength and resilience beforehand. Before the actual adventure begins, participants gather in the forest relaxation room to prepare for the experience under the expert guidance of our "cold trainer." Meditation and breathing exercises help ease the transition into the icy water and improve the body’s ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
As with many things, the golden rule for ice bathing is to take small steps: beginners should only stay in the water for a very short time and should always be accompanied by a professional. Even for experienced ice bathers, just a few minutes are more than enough.
After the invigorating cold shock, warm clothing, a hot cup of tea, and some movement help the body warm up naturally and allow the full health benefits of this natural cold therapy to unfold.

Barefoot Trail in the Forest
… ideal in combination with ice bathing or after a sauna session.
How do pinecones, gravel, bark, or moss feel under your feet? Find the answer on our barefoot trail, which winds around our tree saunas. Along the path, guests can breathe in the fresh forest air, listen to birdsong, and rediscover the sensitivity of their feet. Various natural elements provide a variety of sensory impressions, enhancing awareness and mindfulness. Walking barefoot also stimulates the foot reflex zones, benefiting the entire body. The uneven terrain promotes proper foot movement, which positively impacts the joints and overall posture.
Give it a try! You'll find that walking barefoot in nature is both grounding and wonderfully invigorating.
•Ice bathing is available upon request and can be booked from November to March for an additional fee.
