Biennale Gherdëina – (Future) Paradise Gardens in Val Gardena
Val Gardena once again becomes a stage for contemporary art
Every two years, Val Gardena becomes a meeting place for the international contemporary art scene. This year's edition of the Biennale Gherdëina once again brings together artists from different countries, transforming the Dolomites into a stage for creative perspectives and cultural exchange.
The Biennale Gherdëina is one of the most important contemporary art events in the Dolomites. Set against the breathtaking mountain landscape, international art meets the culture, history, and traditions of Val Gardena, creating a fascinating dialogue between art, landscape, and local identity.
Under the theme "(Future) Paradise Gardens", this year's edition explores the relationship between people and nature, focusing on the idea of a future based on sustainability and coexistence. The artworks invite visitors to reflect on our relationship with the environment and on possible visions for the future.
The exhibition unfolds across several locations throughout Val Gardena, inviting visitors to discover the valley from a unique perspective. Its main focus is in Ortisei, where a total of 18 artworks are displayed in exhibition spaces, historic buildings, and public areas. Santa Cristina also takes part in the Biennale with several indoor and outdoor exhibition venues. A particularly memorable experience awaits at Malga Pilat, above Ortisei, where the installations can only be reached on foot via an easy hiking trail and blend harmoniously into the surrounding natural landscape. Even the journey between the different exhibition sites becomes an integral part of the artistic experience.
