Through our staff’s amazing teamwork, and after an initial “trial by fire”, ADLER’s eagle soared high – the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we achieved full occupancy right through until late autumn.
The mild Sicilian winter has now come, and the Agrigento coastline in swathed in silence. Unlike some animals, however, our resort has not retreated into hibernation. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – we are preparing for the reopening on 9 March, and it’s all hands on deck. The winter break is the perfect time for us to work on improving and enriching our offer, so that you can look forward to an even more special and delightful experience.
A preview or two
Nature dances to her own rhythms. It took time and patience, but the resort’s parkland has now developed into a green oasis, blending seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape. All the work we put into our vegetable gardens and citrus groves is also bearing fruit – quite literally. The first batches of lemons have already been harvested, and various vegetables are growing, with aromatic herbs hot on their heels. On your next visit, you will be able to see them as you make your way to your suite, and to savour them as you explore the delicacies of our cuisine.
This coming season, you can also look forward to a more varied calendar of cultural activities. In addition to the nearby Valley of Temples, our tour programme will include some of the most renowned must-see attractions the area has to offer, such as the Selinunte Archaeological Park, the stunning salt pans of Trapani and Paceco, and Palermo – a town of faceted beauty.
Right next to us, the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve is a world in its own right, one worth discovering. To help you fully appreciate its worth and beauty, we have provided information panels along the path leading to our ecological lido. These illustrate the reserve’s flora and fauna, as well as its geology and marine habitat. Our nature walks in the reserve are returning, after last year’s great success. Together, we will set out to discover the various ecosystems thriving in the reserve, as well as its unspoilt beaches and exceptional marine biodiversity.
From the culinary side of things, new experiences are brewing for 2023. These will include some gourmet gatherings, a series of get-togethers in the kitchen, where our Sicilian chef Giuseppe Schimmenti and chefs from other ADLER resorts will be sharing their respective knowledge, experience and culinary traditions to create new, original recipes. Together, they will lead you through a gourmet journey from the Dolomites to the Mediterranean Sea, which will open the door for you to a world of rich tradition and indulgent flavors. A very special menu will welcome you on the following dates: 20.04.2023; 28.09.2023; 08.12.2023.
The new season is shaping up to be a veritable treasure trove for those who wish to experience Sicily with a difference. If you are looking for the perfect mix of nature and adventure, unparalleled cultural and artistic heritage, unique gourmet experiences and ADLER’s signature spa pleasures… stand by to be amazed.
We look forward to your visit!
SPECIAL EVENT: The Almond Blossom Festival in Agrigento
5-12 March 2023
Every spring, the town of Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples – with its swathe of blossoming almond trees – provide a wonderful backdrop to an event that attracts hundreds of thousands of enthralled visitors from all over the world – the Almond Blossom Festival. A symbol of spring, reawakening and renewal, the blossoming of the almond tree is celebrated in colourful Sicilian style, with music, dance, folklore and culinary specialities. Originally, the “Almond Blossom” started as a sagra, i.e. a rural festival. Over the decades, however, it has evolved into something more – an international festival that brings together people from all walks of life, under the common values of peace and brotherhood. Festival highlights include torchlight processions, concerts, performances by international folklore groups, and parades featuring local music bands and traditional Sicilian carts. The event culminates with a final show and the awarding ceremony for the winning folk group.
