You can choose from three different panoramic routes on this challenge. The selected locality for the starting and finishing point of this year’s race is the wine stronghold of Montalcino:
The Easy Route (Percorso Frugale) is 38 kilometres long with an elevation gain of 700 metres. It winds through the hills and vineyards that are home to Italy’s finest wines, and includes a cultural highlight en route: the famous Sant’Antimo abbey.
The Flavour Route (Percorso Saporito) is a more challenging 75-kilometre itinerary with an elevation gain of 1,650 metres. It climbs up the forest-clad slopes of the Monte Amiata volcano, and back to the starting point via Bagno Vignoni, quite close to ADLER Spa Resort THERMAE.
If you feel ready to measure yourself up against the elite of gravel riding, then your best choice is the Gourmet route (Percorso Goloso), which will lead you to Contignano and the Renaissance town of Pienza – right across the home area of Pecorino sheep’s cheese. The highest point of this route is Radicofani with its historic fortress perched at 897 metres of altitude. Prepare to cover 118 kilometres in length and 2,600 metres of elevation gain.
Despite the punchy climb, this event is not just for steel-calved, iron-willed athletes. Those who prefer to explore the landscape at a more leisurely pace are welcome to take part in our guided electric bike tours, and enjoy nature in its idyllic autumnal colours. The picturesque villages of Val d’Orcia will host a series of fringe events – a great opportunity to savour the atmosphere to the fullest and explore the authentic flavours of local produce.
As an official sponsor of Val d’Orcia Gravel, ADLER Spa Resort THERMAE is offering a time-limited
special deal to all guests. Whether you participate in the event or spend the day relaxing in our wellness oases, we will treat you to a complimentary sports massage to revitalise your muscles and a relaxing bath in our salt grotto.
Enjoy a soul-soothing autumn break in the golden Tuscan landscape!
