But what does it mean, and why did ADLER undergo this demanding process? The answer is simple: because our mission is not just about preserving what is – it’s about taking action to build a better future.
With ADLER for Planet, we follow a holistic approach that connects
people, nature and long-term vision. From energy and construction to sourcing and communication: at ADLER, sustainability is not a buzzword – it’s a lived responsibility. In this article, we show how our heartfelt project is evolving – and which additional initiatives are already in the pipeline.
EarthCheck – the gold standard for sustainable tourism With over 300 strict criteria to be met, the EarthCheck certification sets the bar high. Since 1987, this leading international programme has been dictating standards for sustainable tourism in alignment with the sustainability goals set by the United Nations. Requirements range from reducing emissions and managing resources efficiently to social responsibility, and must be met not just once, but on a yearly basis.
All ADLER establishments now meet the strict EarthCheck standards, and achieving this goal involved a lot more than just ticking off items on a list. The first step was to make a clear commitment to change by forming a dedicated ‘Green Team’, collecting data, analysing processes and developing new measures. Every aspect – from the responsible management of water, waste and energy to social commitment – was checked in detail, documented and optimised as needed.
The aim was never to score perfect figures, but to adopt a holistic approach with a profound impact on corporate culture. The entire ADLER team supports this effort by working together to implement all the measures required for sustainability.
Everyone is involved, from management to the cleaning team.
Sustainability with conviction – and with impactWhether in day-to-day decisions or long-term partnerships – ADLER lives sustainability on every level: single-use products have been reduced, eco-friendly cleaning agents and recycled paper are standard. Regionally sourced food and fresh spring water in refillable bottles reflect a conscious approach to natural resources.
Social responsibility is equally anchored in the ADLER DNA – evident in long-term employment relationships, training opportunities, employee benefits, and active engagement with local communities. Because sustainable action doesn’t end at the doors of our resorts.
For us, the EarthCheck certification is not a final goal, but the starting point of an ongoing journey. Our aspiration: to bring hospitality, tradition and environmental responsibility into harmony – for a future worth living.
How we bring environmental responsibility to life
Below, we present an overview of the key areas of action through which we turn our commitment into real, lived responsibility – in everyday practice and with a long-term perspective.
